Acer Product Warranty Terms & Conditions
Default Warranty, Extended Warranty, Accessories/Peripherals (1-Year Limited), and Enhanced Assurance for Accidental Damage — Singapore
A. Acer Product Default Warranty Terms and Conditions
- Acer Computer (Singapore) Pte Ltd (Acer) warrants the hardware product you purchased (Product) to be free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use during the default warranty period.
- Default warranty can be 1 year, 2 years or 3 years depending on the product model and bundle at time of purchase.
- The warranty period commences on the date of purchase.
- The sales receipt or purchase invoice showing the serial number and date of purchase is the proof of purchase. Warranty extends only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
- Within the warranty period, Acer will, at no additional charge, repair or replace defects in workmanship or parts covered by this warranty.
- All exchanged parts/products replaced under warranty become the property of Acer. Acer may use serviceable used or reconditioned parts.
- Warranty becomes void if:
- Product is damaged due to transportation, falls, weather, extreme temperatures, shock, improper use, mishandling, or negligence after purchase.
- Damage results from natural disasters or acts of God (fire, flood, lightning).
- Damage results from connection to irregular/wrong voltage sources.
- Product is installed/maintained/operated other than in accordance with Acer instructions.
- Product is altered, modified, or repaired by parties not authorized by Acer.
- Product not purchased from Acer or authorized distributors/resellers.
- Customer cannot provide sales receipt or purchase invoice.
- Warranty period has expired.
- Warranty does not cover (non-exhaustive):
- Transportation, delivery and/or incidental costs.
- Any software preloaded on or sold with the Product; software provided "as is" without warranties (including non-infringement, merchantability, fitness for purpose). No support for 3rd-party software/hardware, diagnosis, maintenance, virus cleaning, installations, backups, transfers.
- Installation of non-factory software; recovery only to original factory state.
- Damage to or loss of programs, data, or removable storage media (customer responsible for backups).
- Damages caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, fire, theft, disappearance, misplacement, power fluctuations/surges, incorrect voltage, viruses/malware, reckless/wilful/intentional conduct; use of unauthorized/poor-quality storage media.
- Damages from mixing Acer-branded products with non-Acer products/accessories/parts/components (including SIM/memory cards) or unauthorized parts/services that cause product damage/service problems.
- Signal issues, reception problems, distortion from transmission/delivery problems.
- Results of normal usage: gradual image degradation, uneven screen aging, burn-in/burn marks, pixel failures within spec; uninterrupted/error-free operation not warranted.
- Parts requiring replacement due to normal wear and tear, corrosion/rust/stain; physical damages such as cracks/dents/scratches on casing, broken cable, dislodged parts; products with removed/altered/obliterated model or serial numbers; normal wear and tear.
- Cracked screen or damage caused by external pressure on LCD.
- Physical damage to LCD panels/bezel/cover/chassis (upper/lower case), cables/connectors/key tops due to excessive force, drops/spills, extreme temperatures; neglect/improper care including scratches, imprint/water marks, cracks, dents.
- Minor imperfections that meet design specifications.
- LCD pixel policy: not more than four (4) defective pixels per million; at most one (1) defective pixel in the central area if panel is divided into nine equal rectangles.
- This warranty applies within Singapore only.
- On-site warranty service (if purchased as add-on) applies only in Singapore at locations accessible by road; Acer may courier replacement modules for externally connected failures (e.g., keyboard/mouse).
- Repaired/replaced PCs or parts are warranted for the balance of the original warranty period or 30 days from repair/replacement (whichever longer).
- Except as set forth above, there are no other expressed or implied warranties.
- Valid only for products installed and used in the country of purchase; does not extend to products not supplied by authorized distributors/retailers.
- Subject to law, implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for purpose) are excluded to the fullest extent.
- Acer (and affiliates/authorized parties) are not liable for special/incidental/indirect/consequential losses (e.g., lost revenue, business, profits, goodwill, contracts, interruption, information) arising from use of the Product.
- Acer’s obligation is limited to repair/replacement of defective materials.
- Warranty claims for third-party peripherals with manufacturer’s warranty must be made directly to respective manufacturers.
- If any provision is illegal/unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force.
B. Acer Product Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions
- Customers may purchase extended warranty to extend protection beyond the default period.
- Terms generally follow Section A, except:
- Battery is not covered under extended warranty.
- Extended warranty does not apply to expendable parts or parts exposed to normal wear & tear.
C. Acer Accessories/Peripheral Bundled with the Product — 1 Year Limited Warranty
- Limited warranty covers manufacturing defects only; excludes damage caused by misuse, negligence, accidents, abrasion, extreme temperatures, solvents, acids, water, normal wear and tear, transport damage (e.g., airlines), and defects with insignificant effects on value/serviceability/functionality.
- Service Centre determines warranty applicability. If covered, product will be repaired or replaced; if replacement is needed and original is unavailable, a comparable product will be substituted. Liability limited to the value of the product.
- Examples of non-covered wear/misuse issues:
- Zipper broke/came off; off-track
- Stitches/Seams came off; Bag shredding
- Bag handle/Hand strap support bracket/Latch/Wheel broke or came off
- Dents/cracks; corrosion on metal hardware
D. Acer Product Enhanced Assurance for Accidental Damage
Part I — General Terms & Conditions
- Enhanced product assurance includes either 1 replacement or 2 repairs for loss of product or accidental damage not due to manufacturing defects, including:
- Accident (e.g., lightning, power surge, fire)
- Water spillage
- Screen crack
- Theft
- Enhanced assurance does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear; unexplained circumstances; unattended equipment; mechanical breakdown; loss of data.
- Applies within Singapore only.
- Definitions include Accidental, Theft, Claim, Damage, Date of incident, Manufacturer Serial Number, Replacement.
- Notice of Claim:
- Written notice must be given to Acer/Service Provider within 14 days after Date of Incident.
- Customer must provide pertinent documents and cooperate; failure may prejudice Claim and lead to rejection.
- Notice given with sufficient identifying information is deemed notice to Acer.
- Limitation of Claim: No benefit payable for Claims filed beyond 14 days from Date of Incident.
- Proof of Claim: Original receipts and other proof required within 14 days from Date of Incident.
- Surrender of Accessories: For replacements (beyond repair), customer must return the product as a whole (all original parts intact) and all standard bundled accessories (power adapter, mouse, etc.).
- Repair or Replacement with Excess:
- Excess for repair: $100 or 10% of repair fee (whichever higher).
- Excess for unit replacement: $400 or 20% of new unit (whichever higher).
- Termination of Enhanced Assurance Coverage — earliest of: not owner of product; expiry of product warranty; a unit replacement claimed; two repairs claimed; or accidental damage repair claim amount exhausted in aggregate.
Part II — Consumer Responsibilities
- Customer must exercise duty of care and take reasonable precautions to prevent accidental damage.
- Before service:
- Follow Acer/Service Provider request procedures.
- Backup or secure all programs and data; remove all data (including confidential/proprietary/personal information).
- Acer/Service Provider is not responsible for loss of any data on products returned or accessed for claim.
- Remove features/parts/options/alterations/attachments not covered by warranty.
- Ensure product/part is free of legal restrictions that prevent replacement.
Part III — Exclusions
The following are excluded from Enhanced Product Assurance for Accidental Damage:
- Any loss of time/use/value/information, or consequential losses (economic loss, turnover, time, profits, business, goodwill, expected savings).
- Replacing accessories no longer usable with the Product; replacement of accessories not part of original package.
- Product defects (latent/inherent or otherwise); deliberate damage.
- Software/storage media/virus matters; recovery only to factory state; customer responsible for backups; defects/damage from virus attacks; damage from use of third-party optional products/consumables.
- Damage arising directly/indirectly from: flood, earthquake, convulsions of nature; acts contravening law; war, invasion, hostilities (declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military/usurped power; terrorism (including threat thereof) for political/religious/ethnic/ideological purposes; delay/confiscation/detention/destruction/requisition by authorities; ionizing radiation or radioactivity; fraud or criminal activity by the Customer.
Part IV — Liability
- Acer may reject requests under Enhanced Product Assurance if criteria are not met and/or provided information is incomplete/incorrect/illegible; rejection decided solely by Acer Singapore.
- If rejected for any reason, no refund shall be granted.
- Acer reserves the right to change terms and conditions without prior notice.
